Apamin | Small Conductance Ca2+-activated K+ Channel Blocker

Apamin, a small basic neurotoxic peptide of 18 amino acid residues with 2 disulfide bridges, binds selectively to the Small Conductance Ca2+ channel and acts as a pore blocker. It was reported that Apamin can pass the blood-brain barrier and shows a dose-dependant influence on the secretion of prolactin. Apamin was originally isolated from the venom of the honeybee. The high pure peptide offered from PeptaNova is synthesized in Japan by solid phase peptide chemistry methods and is not isolated from biological sources.
A second SK channel blocker, Scyllatoxin is available for prompt delivery from stock.
