Antimicrobial Peptide

Novel Defensin with Broad Spectrum

The recently described group of human defensins represent an important family of antimicrobial peptides. Human defensins are classified in two well defined subclasses. First the group of four alpha-defensins as there is for example human α-defensin-1 (HNP-1, code 4271-s) and secondly the family of beta-defensin peptides (hBD), which are defined by their disposition of three disulfide bridges.
The description of human Beta-Defensin-1 (hBD-1), code 4337-s), human beta-defensin-2 (hBD-2, code 4338-s) and human beta-defensin-3 (hBD-3) was very helpful in understanding the important role of endogenous antimicrobial peptides.

Beta-Defensin-1 (Human) is a polypeptide composed of 36 amino acid residues and three disulfide bonds. hBD-1 is produced by chemical peptide synthesis and carefully described in our analytical datasheet.
